Mickleton Primary School
To become the person I need to be
Forest school is an inspirational process that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve, develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees. Forest School is a specialised learning approach that sits within and compliments the wider context of outdoor and woodland education.
(The Forest School Association)
We are extremely lucky here at Mickleton to have a superb forest school area with a mud kitchen, den building areas, an enclosed pond and a two small raised bed area's for growing vegetables. Our dedicated Forest school Leader, Mrs Rawlings, is trained in forest school leadership and provides wonderful opportunities for our pupils to experience outdoor learning and the wider environment. Come rain or shine, the children are encouraged to enjoy what nature has to offer!
We provide Forest School lessons to all year groups; allowing every child the chance to experience and learn from nature.
Here at Mickleton we ensure Forest School is a fun and exciting outdoor learning environment for all children. We think that children should be encouraged to explore nature, be free to learn through self-led exploration and discovery in a natural setting. The children are encouraged, through hands on learning experiences, to make their own choices, developing confidence, raising self-esteem and self-awareness.
