Here you will find useful information about what we are intending to learn during the next half term, further information about homework and
pictures of some of our activities.
P.E. will take place on a Monday and Wednesday so please ensure that full P.E. kits are in school on these days. Children should bring a named water bottle every day.
Home Sweet Home
This half term our topic title is 'Home Sweet Home'. We will be exploring living things and their habitats. In particular we will focus on mountains.
In our English lessons we will be studying 'The Jabberwocky' by Lewis Carroll, including writing our own poetry and writing non-chronological reports. Following this we will be focusing on writing to persuade and will be creating our own adverts and writing our own arguments.
In Maths this half term we will be exploring place value and addition and subtraction.
For more information please see the curriculum letter at the bottom of the page.
A different homework activity can be selected by the children every two weeks. Spellings will be sent home on a Friday each week and will be tested the following Friday. Homework should be handed in on the dates shown on the homework overview (see bottom of page). There are two Maths homework activities on Education City which the children must complete by the end of half term.
If possible try to read with your child every day and record this in your child's communication book. Also times tables should be being practised at home. Children in Year 5 are expected to know all times tables up to 12 x 12.
