Our Governing Body make up

Our current Governing Body is made up (constituted) as follows:

The Head teacher
1 Staff governor, elected by staff
4 Parent governors, who are elected by parents, and have a child attending the school
1 Local Authority governor
5 Co-opted governors, who have skills and experience needed by the governing body (elected by other governors)

All Governing Bodies must appoint a chair and vice-chair and may wish to make a number of other specific appointments to lead on certain aspects of the school. They can also delegate certain specified responsibilities to their Committees, made up from members of the governing body.

Governors are usually appointed for a period of office of 4 years.

Contacting Us
We can be contacted through the School Office or via the Clerk to the Governors (clerk@mickleton.gloucs.sch.uk)

There are main committees which meet regularly and report to the main Governing Body meetings. These are:  Finance, Property, Personnel and Premises; Curriculum covering Learning and Development; Early Years.

There are also statutory committees which only meet if the need arises.  The Governors have wide strategic responsibilities for ensuring that the education provided meets the National Curriculum requirements and that financial and administration procedures are compliant with Government regulations.

However, the day-to-day running of the school is in the hands of the Head Teacher who makes regular reports to the Governors. It is important to stress that if you have a complaint, it must first be made through the normal channels (teacher and/or Head).
