Teacher: Miss Lynch
Dear parents/carers if you would like to speak to me about your child please come and see me, preferably after school or in the playground before school.
Our Topic this Half Term
We will be learning about Seas and Oceans this half term. We will look at Seas and Oceans around the world and around the UK as well as spending time focusing on the Galapagos Islands and Charles Darwin. If your child has any books/resources about Seas and Oceans, they can bring them in to share with the rest of the class.
WOW vouchers are your opportunity to inform us of any achievements, however big or small, that your child succeeds in at home so they can be recognised at school and congratulated. All you have to do is fill in a Wow voucher and let your child bring it into school with them.
Your child will get one reading book a week on a Monday. Please ensure you read your child’s book with them and make a comment in their reading diary. Please also play games/activities using the book, e.g. retell the story in correct order, discuss beginning, middle and end, talk/write about the characters, discuss punctuation, change the ending, relate to their own personal experiences etc. If you are unsure about different activities you can do, please do not hesitate to come and see me and discuss it.
Every Friday (starting next week) your child will bring home homework. Your child will bring home a selection of words to read or spell relating to different phonic sounds. Please can you get your child to put their spellings into sentences (either orally or written) so they can put them into the correct context. They will have a week to learn their spellings.
Every Friday morning your child will take part in a ‘Big Write’ where they get to write about a specific topic. Please work with your child to find out about the topic, which can be done through talking, looking through books or when they are ready looking on the internet. Your child may write one line in their ‘Big Write’ or a whole page. It does not matter how much they write it is about giving children the time to write about a topic they have learnt information about.
Your child will also receive some maths homework on a Friday (starting next week) focusing on what we have been learning about that week. This will be either sent home or accessed online through EducationCity.
This term our PE sessions will be on a Thursday afternoon. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school.
Please ensure that your child has a water bottle in school for the day time, as well as a drink in their lunch box.
Please remember that children should have Mickleton Book Bags in school and do not need rucksacks.
Show and Tell will take place on Wednesdays.
